A guide to the best Italian wines made from international grape varieties written by Attilio Scienza, Rebecca Lawrence and Jacopo Fanciulli. "Jumbo Shrimp Guide to International Grape Varieties in Italy" was born thanks to the collaboration of three authors who realized that in the study of lesser-known varieties, and in the hunt for lesser-known wines, many great grapes, denominations and wines are overlooked by the recent literature on Italian wine. It is true that Italy has more than 500 registered native grape varieties at national level, but it is also true that in many regions of Italy some of the best wines are made from international grape varieties. The team wanted to explore this topic for the first time in a dedicated book, examining not only the wines created from these grapes, but also their history in the country, their rise to popularity, and how they are growing. Of course, it starts primarily with a discussion of what makes a grape international! In addition, the team felt it was important to include some pages dedicated to how wines produced from international grape varieties in Italy are distinguishable from those produced elsewhere. Consequently, this book is designed to be appreciated by the casual consumer, but it is also a useful tool for students and more experienced tasters. All of this is obviously conceived in the typical style of the Jumbo Shrimp guide: key information is presented in an accessible and fun way and does not need to be tackled chronologically, but the reader can follow the order they prefer. Language: English. Pages: 128.
